Rochester City Council president Lovely Warren is interested in running for mayor.

Current mayor Tom Richards has not decided if he'll seek for re-election, so Warren is exploring the possibility of becoming a candidate.

Warren has represented the city's Northeast District since 2007. She was elected Council president in 2010.

Warren supported Richards in a special election to replace Bob Duffy. She now believes the city needs a new vision.

"Part of this is really about what's going on in our neighborhoods, what's actually going on with our people in those neighborhoods. Sometimes we think about the big picture and we think about the big projects, but on a smaller scale we can do a lot of things. We have a lot of low hanging fruit that we can do that can change people's lives that sometimes we overlook because it's not the glamorous project," Warren said.

Warren says she's talking to city residents to see if they share her vision before deciding whether to run. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
