Albion Man Charged in Early-Morning Assault of Homeowner

An Albion man is charged with assaulting a homeowner early Friday morning.

Police were called to a report of a woman screaming. Police say officers arriving on the scene found a 59-year-old man on the ground with serious head trauma from an assault. He was taken Erie County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested 22-year-old Domingo Candelaria. Police say when Candelaria went to the home to confront and assault an acquaintance who wasn't home at the time. He then allegedly got into a fight with the homeowner outside.

Police also arrested 18-year-old Maria Lape of Albion, who is charged with criminal facilitation for allegedly helping Candelaria commit the assault.

The homeowner is now listed in serious condition.
