Millions of people saw the Ravens beat the 49ers Sunday night in Super Bowl 47 but many of them also tuned in to watch the game played by man's best friend.
For it's ninth consecutive year, the Puppy Bowl has been warming the hearts of millions of viewers before the start of the big game
Well each year there can only be one winner at the Super Bowl. But for sixty three canine contenders in this year's Puppy Bowl who were looking for a home, it was a win all around.
The gridiron field is only 10 by 9 feet long. But for some, the action on this field is just as captivating as the big game.
The Puppy Bowl, produced by Animal Planet, gives puppies from animal shelters across the country the chance to catch the eye of a viewer at home. And this year, two local celebrities from Pitty Love Rescue in Rochester made it to the field.
Since the show is taped in advance, Jenny and Gunther were already adopted by gameday.
"He's super sweet, super mellow, we love having him in the house, he's a real good boy," said Gunther's adopted parent Melinda Smith.
The proud puppies new mom's attended a rescue fundraiser Sunday at Richmond's Tavern.
"It was just fun to watch and see him on TV," said Smith, "He acted exactly as he does. He's very playful with the other dogs."
Neither of the owners knew their pet would be on national TV. Their decision to adopt was based on a connection.
Smith said, "It's a look and you just know. He had that look."
Two other dogs from Pitty Rescue made their debut on the Subaru commercial.
"All the dogs were great. Everyone did wonderful," said Pitty Love Rescue VP Lindsay Bachl.
The Baltimore Ravens may have taken home the trophy Sunday but these puppies got their fifteen minutes of fame and found a family who thinks they're top dog.
