Two people are charged with robbing a bank in Orleans County. One of them was wanted for three other bank robberies in Monroe County.
Police say Jeremy Rothmund, 29, and Elyse Hoffer, 22, of Rochester robbed the Bank of America in the Village of Albion Tuesday afternoon. They say a masked Rothmund walked into the bank demanding money and holding what appeared to be an explosive device.
A customer in the drive through was alerted of the robbery by a bank employee and witnessed Rothmund get in a car driven by Hoffer.
The vehicle was spotted by Holley police at an apartment complex shortly after.
About $18,000 was recovered, as well as the fake explosive used to threaten the bank clerk and employees.
Both suspects are charged with robbery and grand larceny. Police say Rothmund is involved in 2 other robberies in the town of greece over the last three weeks and more one in Monroe County.
They're being held in the Orleans County Jail on $250,000 bail.
